Subject to terms and conditions set forth herein, timber doors, fire doors, frames & windows manufactured by M & J Quality Doors Pty. Ltd. are guaranteed against warp by the Manufacturer for two(2) years from the date of shipment by the manufacturer to be of good material and workmanship, free from defect which render them unserviceable or unfit for the use for which they were manufactured, including warping as defined in AS2688 and/or the failure in panel adhesion.

Natural variations with color and texture of the wood are not to be considered defects. Doors must be accorded reasonable treatment by the Purchaser and should be stored or hung in dry building and not in damp moist or freshly plastered areas. The utility or structural strength must not be impaired in the fitting of the door, the application of hardware, or cutting and altering the door for lights, louvres, panels or any other special detail. Normal show through of frame components in flush doors shall not be considered a defect. Immediately after fitting and prior to hanging, the entire door including top and bottom edges must receive two coats of paint varnish or sealer to prevent undue absorption of moisture. Exterior finishes shall be used on exterior doors and doors exposed to direct sunlight must be finished with light reflective colors. Door finishes must be maintained in strict accordance with the paint supplier’s recommendations.

The manufacturer will not assume responsibility for doors which become defective because of failure to follow these recommendations or for the hazards of shipment or storage after doors leave the control of the manufacture.

Doors must be inspected upon arrival for visible defect and all claims thereon must be filed immediately.

The manufacturer agrees to repair or replace, at its option, unfinished and in the form as originally supplied without change, any door found to be defective within the meaning of the guarantee. Any such defect must be brought to the attention of the manufacturer promptly when discovered, and, in any event within two years from the date of shipment.

The manufacturer is not liable hereunder to reimburse any purchaser for doors repaired or replaced without the prior written consent of the manufacturer to such repair or replacement. A warp not exceeding 5mm on doors up to 2134x914x38mm or 6mm on doors over 2134x 914x38mm and up to 2399x1199x38mm shall not be considered a defect. Doors above 2400 in height or wider than 1200 are not covered by this guarantee.

Warp shall be interpreted as meaning the cupping or twisting of doors. It refers to distortion within the door itself and not to its relationship to the jambs or frame in which it is hung. Therefore, warp exceeding tolerances noted above shall be considered a defect only.

  1. When cupping is determined by applying a straight edge to concave side of the door.
  2. When twist is determined by placing the door against a true surface.

The guarantee against warp does not apply to the following:

  1. Doors with face veneers of different species.
  2. Doors that are improperly hung or do not swing freely.
  3. External flush doors which have been painted dark colors.
  4. Doors that exceed 2400mm in height or 1200mm in width.

Experience has demonstrated that when warp occurs after doors have been delivered to storage or building site, it is usually due to improper storage or adverse moisture conditions after hanging and not to faulty manufacture. The Manufacturer will not accept responsibility for doors when the moisture content of the timber falls below 12% or exceeds 18%, as it cannot assume responsibility for conditions beyond its control. The manufacturer should, however, be consulted promptly if excessive warping occurs so as to be of assistance in overcoming the difficulty.

This guarantee does not exclude any condition or warranty implied by The Trade Practices Act 1974.

All claims under this guarantee shall be in writing notifying date and place of purchase and shall be forwarded to the manufacturer.
